Since it was first established in 1888, the Fakhro Organisation has played a leading role in the development of the Bahraini economy and society. After inheriting the business from his father, the late Haji Yousif Abdulrahman Fakhro led a significant role in the expansion of the business in the first half of the 20th century. Thus by the time of his death in 1952, the business had grown from one dealing in traditional building materials and dates to an active import export business. With branches in Bahrain, Iraq, UAE, Oman and India, the business dealt with everything from cars to timber and from food to electrical and domestic products.

In the successive generations, the late Abdulla Yousif Fakhro continued expanding the business lines and under his leadership, new subsidiary companies were created and added to the group. The result is an integrated group of 14 main companies, each specialized in its own field covering trading in automotive and industrial products, sales and servicing of telecom, I.T. products and systems, telecom value added products and services, quick service restaurants, car rental and leasing, sales and servicing of electrical and building solutions/products, mechanical and electrical contracting, shipping services, insurance brokerage services, property and investments. The Group is headquarted in Bahrain and has operations in Bahrain, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Qatar.
